A 6.7 magnitude earthquake on 3rd January 2016 hit Imphal causing large scale damage to the new Ima Market. It was very fortunate of me to visit the old market time and again and laze away the mornings, soaking up atmosphere of the place. I preferred being at the ‘Old Market’ which had a very organic feel. The old world charm with the new construction has faded away a bit. Managed by some 4000 women shopkeepers it is an unique experience to spend some time with these kind ladies and able to freeze some unforgettable transactions.
